CASPER, Wyo. - The College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) has hit the midweek stride in Casper. The University of Wyoming rodeo team continues to fight for spots in the short-go championship round that will be held on Saturday night at the Ford Wyoming Center. Third-go performances are still in full swing, but here's where they stand as of Wednesday morning.

Steer Wrestling

Jacob Wang had two strong runs, clocking a 7.8 in the opening round before shaving off serious time in his second go, finishing with a 4.2. He averaged 5.1 seconds, positioning himself well as the third round is still unfolding. Teammate Rhett Witt is still seeking a qualified time after two no-scores.

With 24 more steer wrestlers yet to compete in the third round, Wang remains in contention for a spot in the short go if his average holds.

Tie Down Roping

Witt, looking for redemption in another event, posted an 8.8 in his second go. He’ll rope again tonight in the third round, needing an outstanding performance to stay alive in the average.

Bareback Riding

Colton Farrow has Mr. Consistency at the CNFR. He posted rides of 70.0 and 76.5, He turned in a 73.5-point effort in round three, giving him a strong 220.0-point total. With 24 riders still to compete, Farrow is still in the hunt for a short-go spot.

Bull Riding

It’s been a tough go at the CNFR so far in bull riding. Emmit Ross has yet to record a score through three rounds. Stefan Tonita has been bucked off in his first two, but he has a critical third ride tonight. A qualified ride could punch his ticket to Saturday’s short go.

Barrel Racing

Emme Norsworthy opened with a 15.12 and bounced back strong in round two with a 14.54 run. She runs again tonight, aiming to secure her place in the short go.

Rayne Grant turned in 14.57 in round one but was saddled with a 24.16 in her second run after trouble on the course. She’ll look for redemption on Thursday in the third go.

Goat Tying

Veteran Cowgirl Riata Day matched her first-round time with another 6.2 in round two and runs again Thursday. Freshman Landry Haugen improved from a 7.9 in round one to a 6.2 and competes again tonight. Josie Mousel dropped from 7.6 to 6.8 and also has her final run tonight. A strong third round from any of the trio could earn Wyoming more points in the women’s team standings.

Breakaway Roping

Jordyn McNamee has been fast and steady, roping runs of 2.9 and 2.8. She’ll close out Friday in hopes of maintaining her low average. Landry Haugen, doubling up in this event, is also in the mix after a 2.6 in round two. She’ll compete again on Friday.

Team Roping

Troupe Coors and Bodie Mattson have yet to post a time after two rounds. They'll get their final shot tonight.
