GILLETTE, Wyo. (Oct. 11, 2026) - The Pokes were four hours from the Arena Auditorium, but the distance didn't matter with a sold-out crowd. The Wyoming Cowboys used hot shooting to race past Northern Colorado by a score of 94-68 in the Pronghorn Center in Gillette Wyoming on Sunday afternoon. The Pokes opened the exhibition schedule in front of a sold-out crowd in head coach Sundance Wicks’ hometown.

“I thought the guys came out with really good poise,” Wicks said postgame. “I got to get these guys to believe they can be as good as they can be, and they came out with right mindset and mentality. Overall pleased with our ability to take care of the ball and execute.

Guards Nasir (Naz) Meyer and Khaden Bennett along with Forward Gavin Gores combined for adding over 40 points for the Pokes. A group of newcomers also added to the tally as UW added an advantage on the glass and in the assist column.

The Cowboys took a double-digit lead into the half thanks to hot shooting, as UW shot over 50 percent from the field and behind the arc. Gores and Meyer led the Pokes in the first frame combining for over 20 points.

Several incoming transfers and signees got a chance to play in the exhibition.

Wyoming continued the pressure in the second half shooting well over 60 percent from the field using the entire roster in the process.
