LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming Rodeo team members and fans have been chomping at the bit (pun intended) since the fall season concluded. The spring season is coming up, with five competitions across Wyoming and Colorado. Season qualifiers will earn the chance to compete in Casper, Wyo., at the CNFR (College National Finals Rodeo) in June.
Leading the program is head coach Seth Glause, a four-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier, was named as head coach in June of 2023 for the program. Glause grew up in Rock Springs and graduated from the University of Wyoming before returning to lead the program. Seth's father, Tom Glause, is the CEO of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association).
Glause made the following statements when he took over as the head coach in 2023:
“I’m excited for the opportunity to lead the University of Wyoming rodeo team,” said Glause. “This has been a goal of mine, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experience with our student-athletes and helping create the next generation of rodeo athletes at UW".
“To be able to be the head coach at my alma mater, the University of Wyoming, is a great feeling, and I’m looking forward to being able to give back to the university where I graduated. It is also great to stay in the state of Wyoming, where I’ve grown up, and give back to the state."
He is joined on staff by Assistant Coach Jacey Hupp, Associate Athletic Trainer Brian O'Flannigan, and Oscar Martinez, a graduate assistant for Olympic Sports who helps oversee strength and conditioning for the rodeo team. Additional support staff includes Director of Rodeo Operations & Marketing, Tatum Runner, and Senior Office Associate, Ashley Barrowman.

Wyoming will compete at several rodeos throughout the region before saving the best for last… wrapping up the spring season at home in Laramie as they host the Laramie River Rendezvous.

How to Qualify for the CNFR:
To qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), student-athletes must first be members of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) and be enrolled at an accredited college or university with a rodeo team. Competitors must maintain academic eligibility by carrying at least 12 credit hours per semester, passing a minimum of nine credits, and maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher. Throughout the season, contestants compete in more than 10 rodeos within one of the NIRA’s 12 regions, earning points toward the regional standings.
