Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week - Sept. 14

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week for Week 2 games were announced Monday.
North Dakota State quarterback Nathan Hayes was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week, while Hawai‘i senior linebacker Jamih Otis earned MW Defensive Player of the Week honors.
North Dakota State senior placekicker Drew Klein was named MW Special Teams Player of the Week, while North Dakota State running back Myles Mitchell earned MW Freshman of the Week honors.
It is the third career MW weekly honor for Otis, the second for Hayes and Klein, and the first for Mitchell.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NATHAN HAYES, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Senior | Quarterback | West Chicago, Illinois | St. Charles East HS
Helped lead North Dakota State to its third straight victory, defeating Air Force on the road, 38-32.
Completed 15-of-23 passes for a career-high 228 yards and two touchdowns.
Added a 17-yard rushing touchdown.
Connected with eight different receivers and tallied four plays of at least 20 yards.
Completed a season-long 51-yard pass to set up a 1-yard touchdown just before halftime.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAMIH OTIS, HAWAI‘I
Senior | Linebacker | Las Vegas, Nevada | Bishop Gorman HS
Led a defense that shut out New Mexico State in the second half, helping Hawai‘i secure a 29-19 victory.
Recorded a team-high six tackles to go along with an interception and a fumble recovery.
Recovered a fumble on New Mexico State’s opening drive, which led to a Rainbow Warrior touchdown.
With just four minutes left in the game, picked off an NMSU pass inside Hawai‘i territory to secure the victory.
Also recorded one pass breakup.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DREW KLEIN, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Senior | Placekicker | Hortonville, Wisconsin | Hortonville HS
In North Dakota State’s first-ever MW contest, a 38-32 victory at Air Force, converted all five PATs and made his lone field-goal attempt.
Connected on a school-record 56-yard field goal, breaking the previous record set in 1997.
Booted all seven kickoff attempts into the end zone for touchbacks.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MYLES MITCHELL, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Running Back | Chicago, Illinois | Richards HS
Led North Dakota State with 61 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the road victory at Air Force.
Also had two receptions for 11 yards.
Set career highs for touchdowns (2), receptions (2) and longest rush (31 yards).
The 31-yard rush came on the Bison’s opening score before he scored on a 1-yard run just before halftime.
Picked up two first downs on the ground, including a fourth-and-two conversion.
