Alicia Gonzalez Named Mountain West Diver of the Week

Ties Women’s School Record for the Award with Nine in Her Career

Colorado Springs, Colo. (10/8/25) – The Mountain West announced on Tuesday that Alicia Gonzalez was named Diver of the Week after her performances at the Front Range Invite this past weekend.

 

This is Gonzalez’ first diver of the week award of the season and the ninth of her career. She is now officially tied with Stephanie Ortiz (’07-’10) for most women’s Mountain West Diver of the Week awards.

 

At the Front Range Invite, Gonzalez took first on the 3-meter with an NCAA Zone Cut qualifying score of 284.35. She also placed fourth on the 1-meter with a score of 241.90 and fifth on the platform with a score of 187.80.

 

Gonzalez and the Wyoming swimming and diving team are back in action Oct. 17-18 in a tri-meet against LSU and Air Force at the USAF Academy.

1-Meter: 319.65

Junior (2024-25): Participated in 1- and 3-meter events along with platform ... scored third place at the Mountain West Championships (2/22/25) on 1-meter with a mark of 308.30, and recorded a personal-best mark in the 10-meter (206.80) ... named Mountain West Diver of the Week four times this season, marking eight times in her career ... earned All-Mountain West Honors for performance in the 1-meter event.


Sophomore (2023-24): Participated in 1- and 3-meter events along with platform … posted career-bests in all three events … earned All-Mountain West Conference (2/24/24) honors in the 3-meter with a mark of 317.75 … scored 319.65 in the 1-meter at Northern Colorado (11/4/24) … named Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week three times this season … competed in the postseason at Zone “E” Championships (3/11/24).


Freshman (2022-23): Participated in 1- and 3-meter events along with platform … was named All-Mountain West Conference (2/17/23) after posting career-best marks of 284.05 in 1-meter and 307.85 in 3-meter … recorded a career-best 195.15 in platform at Air Force (1/14/23) … qualified for Zones in 1- and 3-meter competitions … honored as MW Diver and Freshman of the Week for her performance at Colorado State (11/5/23).


Personal: Alicia is the daughter of Silvia Saenz de Jubera Santana and Teofilo Gonzalez Sosa.
